Agriculture is in my blood! I grew up on a farm and farming has been part of our family for a long time. It is incredibly rewarding and a great way to spend time outdoors and with animals. In my opinion, there is no better way to raise children than like this. It only seemed natural to start-up my own business. My parents own and operate their own business, as well as all my 11 aunts and uncles.

Our farm wasn’t a family owned business. My wife and I started our farm with only 3 cows and today calve out over 100 head, only 6 years later. Having to build our name from nothing and make our name in the industry has been no small feat, but with each year and passing show season, our brand is more and more recognized and we are beginning to become known in the industry as producing quality show and breeding stock.
We planted our first grapevines 8 years ago with an idea that perhaps someday we could make wine, build a winery and have a facility to help showcase our incredibly scenic and stunning region and all it has to offer.
« A combination of factors led us to start our own Restaurant/Brew-Pub. We knew there was a need in the community and we were able to purchase a building in the downtown core.
Avec mon conjoint Sylvain Drapeau, nous avons fait l’achat d’un domaine de 200 acres dans la municipalité d’Otter Lake, dans la région du Pontiac en 2004.
« Nous n’étions pas à la recherche active d’une propriété », racontent Randi et Jonathan, «mais comme l’emplacement et les installations correspondaient à nos critères, nous avons choisi de faire le saut. » Le couple a donc communiqué avec la SADC Pontiac pour savoir comment elle pourrait les aider à concrétiser leur rêve.
Il y a plus de 8 ans que nous sommes propriétaires du seul dépanneur de Portage du Fort. C’est au moment où nous cherchions un revenu additionnel pour l’éducation de nos enfants et une occupation pour notre retraite éventuelle que le magasin a été mis sur le marché.
